Near the end of our run, with dusk and downtown Chicago in the distance.
At the end of class, with our cabinets ready to be transported to the car. L to R it’s me, our instructor Nick, and Liz.
The space is incredibly narrow, and took me back at first. But as we settled it, it got pretty cozy. We got seated at the far end of the row, where the seating kind of wraps around… allowing me and Liz to set next to one another. Definitely the best table in the space.
Hard to believe it’s been fifteen years since Liz and I got married. Time sure flies.
Of particular note: as we were sitting down, one of the veterans (Michael)… shouted out that he wanted to sit next to Liz, because “she gets everything right.” He was referring to one of the prior events (the March outturn), where Liz was really spot-on with a lot of her predictions (the tasting involves trying to guess the age, distillery, casks used, and ABV for each dram).
Our instructor, Nick, talking through how the newly installed drawer should function.
Well my gosh, I haven’t seen you in a long while. Hello, stranger – it’s been a minute!
As someone who’s kept (or tried to keep) a somewhat daily blog since 2002… there’s been an odd amount of radio silence, lately. No updates for a few months on here, which is a bit out of the ordinary.
Let me explain.
Checking to make sure things are level and lined up. Small note: we used splines for the corner joints.
Every time I see this large container, in my head I hear Brad Pitt saying “Drugs!”, from the movie Twelve Monkeys.
It’s… it’s a good thing I’m not a doctor.
A nice thing about our class time: oftentimes, there aren’t a lot of other people, using the table saws. This is a view of the main area, where we do most of our cuts.
On seeing this, I have two thoughts. First: that’s a lot of clamps. Second: you can never have too many clamps.
Liz and I were back at the back office demo, today. Picking up from where we left off.
Liz suited up with me today, with the two of us tackling more demo work in the back office. Made a bit more headway into the ceiling.
Working with Nick, our instructor, learning how to use a sliding table saw.
