Ever since the city did all the road work along our street last year, our parkway has suffered. We had a large chunk of it disturbed, dug up, and the city ended up spraying some kind of hydroseed thing to re-grass the areas.
Liz, braving the space beneath the front porch to retrieve some gardening supplies. Given how much she dislikes scampers, this really was a bold move for her.
With the first day of spring having already passed us by, I figured it would be good to show a few photos of what Liz has been up do. She began her outdoor plans on Sunday, and has been getting her seedlings set up in our kitchen (in the past, they’ve been set up in the basement).
For my birthday, Liz had some fun excursions planned for the evening. First up, we had dinner at Daisies, which was a nice treat. We’ve been really good about staying on our diet, but tonight was an excuse to splurge a little bit – and so pasta was back on the menu.
Today, we planned an early breakfast at Roister as our last hurrah, before the diet begins. And afterwards, we’d go shopping to get a week’s supply of healthier food, as we plan on ordering out much less and cooking for ourselves much more.
This is a view of our living room, after we moved the bed out. Taken last night, this is where we had dinner around 10:30 PM. Which totally felt weird, because we’re used to eating dinner in bed, while watching TV. It actually looks like a normal room, now.
The master bedroom has been totally reworked, since that time. From the early days before I knew how to demo a wall, to having all the walls removed on the second floor, to pulling up the floor… this room has really been rebuilt.
After work, Liz and I hung out in the kitchen and had a mini game night, to celebrae Valentine’s Day. We cracked open a bottle of wine tha we got from The Blind Horse, a winery we had visited over the holidays when we took a vacation in Kohler.
Julie and Bob are cleaning up their basement in Valpo. Going through old items, they found a few more things from Liz and Bob dropped them off at our house the other day. It’s always a fun time going through old things, and I was excited to see what we got.
Though we’ve had a three day weekend, it’s been pretty busy at our place. Today, after a nice breakfast, Liz and I suited up to finish the remaining drywall work in the master bedroom.
It was only after my shower that I realized I had yet to shovel our sidewalk outside, with all the snow that came down during the day. So I changed, went outside, and did that for a good while.
The bunnies have been staying with Liz Rench for the last few months, as we wanted them to be elsewhere during a lot of the recent house work. Over the holidays, Liz and I talked and decided we wanted the bunnies to return home.
After dry-fitting the pieces, Liz applies Green Glue to the drywall while I put some sealant along any seams (and any screw heads). Once that’s done, we position the drywall together, and get a few screws in for the board to remain in position. Then, as I’m throwing more screws in… Liz is off to the next piece.
After work, I got home and we did another session of drywall. We got a second piece up along the North wall.
