When I first saw this link, I clicked it thinking it would be a passing thing – a quick peek, the close the window. But after 30 seconds, I got sucked in and just couldn’t stop watching/listening.

I’m usually not someone who gets fixed on lyrics. Usually the letters of the notes come first to me, before the words to the song. But as I started listening a bit more to the lyrics, I found myself liking the words and notes in equal measure.

I realize it’s getting ridiculous, but man do I love this band. At this point, I should just officially declare this album to be my soundtrack for 2012.

I keep getting drawn back to The Low Anthem and their fantastic album, Oh My God, Charlie Darwin. So many songs that I could loop, over and over.

The latest for me is Sigh No More, by Mumford & Sons. Having the slow beginning and the build-up in the middle is a nice combination for me, as it feels like the song is slowly rising and cresting repeatedly.

When I was listening purely to the song, I wasn’t paying much attention to the lyrics. I focused mostly on the voice and the music, just not the words. After looking around and finding the official video to this song… I didn’t really pick up on the turn in the song. I’ve been listening a lot to an album called “Catching a Tiger,” by Lissie. You wouldn’t think it just by looking at her, but she’s got an incredible (and powerful) voice. I’ve been looping this song, Oh Mississippi an awful lot this weekend.

Perhaps it’s the wine I’ve been drinking, but in thinking of Ohio I’m thinking of my time in graduate school, my writer friends. I’m fondly remembering fun parties and fun celebrations. Given the tone of the song, I’m also thinking a lot about two people I wish were still around – David Citino and Ann Paeth.

I fell in love with one the first tracks from Boswell – We Are All Connected. If you haven’t heard this, I strongly urge you to click the link and check it out – it’s a fantastic example of a autotune and mashup combining and becoming something great.

I just saw their album show up on Rdio a few days ago, and have been playing it a lot since. Don’t know much about them, but this first track is what pulled me in to the album. Reminds me a little of The Black Keys (though it’s just this one song – the other tracks on the album vary a lot).
