Christiana Lakehouse 2023, Day 4: Indoor and Outdoor Games, Fireworks on the Lake
While I’ve gotten to see the fireworks from land before, tonight was the first time I got to be on the boat.

Shortly after breakfast, the kids decided to break out Monopoly (rainy day today). They asked if I wanted to join, and I have to tell you… I debated, but decided to decline. Boy did I dodge a bullet there.
I really like this shot. It has the look of a Renaissance painting to me.
The skies were getting darker and darker as we got towards the Indiana/Michigan border. And right as we got near, just about 6 minutes away… the rain really started coming down. I’m talking windshield wipers on full, every car slowing down to 15 miles an hour, and everyone throwing on their blinkers.
A big event that many of us were looking forward to this weekend: Tricia, visiting with the kids. It’s been ages since Liz and I have seen Paige, Audrey, and Sebastian… and it was a mini-reunion of sorts when they all arrived.
Despite a late night ringing in the new year watching fireworks on the beach, a group of us woke up early (6:00 AM) to drive about 2+ hours for a rainforest hike at Sensoria.
On the drive to dinner, we encountered a few cows wandering the road. This happened more than once, during the length of our stay. Brandon and Lauren had been warned about “vacas negras” as something to keep an eye out for, while driving at night.
Easter dinner, which would later be followed by some apple pie. Great meal, great weekend.
Liz and I got to stay in the basement at the lakehouse, and that room always results in more sleep that we intended. Given that the room has no windows, it’s easy to lose track of time – and to roll out of bed around 9:30 or 10AM without thinking twice.
Friday after work, Liz and I headed out to Michigan to visit the Denler family and to stay at the Christiana lake house over Easter weekend. We’ve visited before, and it’s always an incredibly relaxing time just resting and catching up with family.
