It seems like the thing on the left is what should be on all three platforms, but in looking closer… the platform on the right is much smaller. I’m assuming the black thing is a kind transformer for the adjacent building. But on the right? The thing made out of wood? No idea.

I found all this fascinating and could have stayed out here for an hour, just watching. I’m curious why they had three welders at once, and whether it was necessary for them to be working in tandem… or if they were just rushing to meet a certain deadline.

While walking to work this morning, I spotted two welders working on a new bus shelter on Madison. I’ve seen the ongoing construction along both Madison and Washington this year, but didn’t really know much about the Loop Link until I looked it up this afternoon.

The day was already pretty hot, and it was uncomfortable outside. But I swear – if I didn’t have to go in to work, I would have stayed out here and watched. And probably tried to talk to the workers, to ask a bunch of annoying questions.

We never really talked about anything in detail. Our conversations were always in passing, but when I saw her (she worked the first part of the day), we said hello to each other. There may have been some small talk about the building, about some maintenance projects, and things of that nature. But nothing really personal. The most I ever learned is that she has a fiance, but no other specifics beyond that.

On my way in to work this morning, I spotted a fun thing. At Millennium Station near the Randolph/Michigan exit, I spotted two vendors who had set up shop. On the left are some guys selling fresh fruit; on the right, there’s a guy selling Krispy Kreme donuts.
