As Liz and I were walking to work, we didn’t notice how strange the sky looked until we got to Logan/Milwaukee. We had been walking underneath the shading that runs along the boulevard, but when things opened up at Milwaukee… we noticed how odd the sky seemed.

Walking to work, Liz and I happened across a pair of dice that were clearly made by the same guy(s) that made the large Monopoly cards around here.
For the first time, the “signature” on the piece now seems to refer more to a collective than an individual. Instead of “-bored,” the name listed is “we are bored.” So my hunch here is that it’s a group of people at work. I wonder if we’ll see more work using this new moniker.

Turns out, they were installing another large billboard onto the side of the building. Which is weird because, the other billboard space has been blank since January of this year.

While walking to work this morning, Liz happened to see a group of guys working on a large structure. From a distance, it looked a bit like a platform of some kind. As we got closer, we realized it was a series of benches, curving and connecting with one another. In passing, I stopped and asked one of the guys…

Spotted this guy on my way to work yesterday, walking through the alleys behind my apartment. I’m not sure exactly why it caught my eye, but the light from this small lamp seemed to jump out from the drab exterior of the building.

It’s funny how well I feel I know the alleyways near my apartment. I may not travel it every single day, but I do tend to notice small changes here and there. Rounding the corner, this smiling face kind of just jumped out at me.

Looked up on my way to the Logan Blue Line stop yesterday, and spotted this large, blank space. To me, it was screaming for someone to show up and tag the thing.

I don’t know what it is with me and my fascination with birds – particularly when I’m on my way to work. Maybe it’s due to the fact that I’m just waking up, imagining everyone (and thing) else is also just starting out their day.

Last Thursday, I noticed these strange… things, set up along the sidewalk near State and Monroe. At first glance, I thought they were lights of some kind – tall stalks with pill-shaped lightbulbs at the tips.

I learned his name was Alex, and that he was a student. He told me the device was something he made for his “Real-Time Systems Class.” It was something that allowed him to manipulate audio and video. He mentioned a few more technical things, which I didn’t quite remember.
I noticed the top of the box had a picture of an old Sega… and so I asked if the insides were made from an old console.

I spotted this box of old VHS tapes in the alleyway, behind my apartment. On walking by, I was struck by the fact that all the tapes looked to be in pretty good (if not great) condition. I paused and debated briefly snatching them up, only to remember that I don’t own a VHS player. Even if I wanted these tapes, I would have no way to actually view them.

Most days, as I’m walking to and from work, I’ll glance up at the very large Illinois Centennial Monument that sits at the heart of Logan Square. For whatever reason, the nerd in me giggles whenever I see a pigeon on the monument – a small bird, sitting on top of a larger bird. I don’t know why it tickles me so much, but it does.

On my way to work this morning, I took out the trash and walked through the alleyway that runs somewhat parallel to Logan Boulevard. Near the end, where it meets up with the alley that runs along Milwaukee… I spotted this odd note, spray-painted into the ground.
