Unnecessary Complexity

I’m no expert on password security, but this seems to be… unnecessarily complex. I needed to hop onto the store’s WiFi to respond to a request, and on asking what the password was, this was plopped down in front of me.

This week, I’ve taken to leaving the house a little early and stopping for a double espresso on my way to the train.
It was curious to both me and Liz that the windows were taken out, as part of whatever’s going on. Maybe it had nothing to do with constrcution, and was just easier to move some equipment in this way? Either for the work or for the future business?
I know this is someone looking to give away some Christmas decorations, but a part of me likes imagining someone creating a special shrine – as a way of invoking the season to remain, despite the days.
Did someone get hurt? Are they ok? Did they decide they no longer needed the wheelchair, or that it was more hassle than it was worth? So many questions.
I realize now how taken I was by Salvador’s voice in “Amar Pelos Dois.” But it’s really the music that’s captivated me more, and Luísa is the songwriter. It’s her work that has so ensorcelled me and I’m excited to explore more of her music on her album, “Rosa.”
This was due, I’m sure, to the fact that we had some seriously cold days last week. But it made me wonder if the missing bikes were due to people fleeing the neighborhood, or due to Divvy not being able to come and re-stock the bicycles.
Spotted this while on my way in to work. I was actually standing in the vestibule, waiting to pull into Millennium Station, when I spotted this Dunkin’ Donuts cup sitting perfectly in the door.
I’ve been going in to work a bit early, the last few days. This morning I happened to look over as I walked by the loading area for Treasure Island (which closed down a while ago).
This morning, we broke out our new Metra passes for the month… and Liz noticed that the design for December looked like a train barreling through a series of explosions.
So instead of using my phone, I have to order in person like a shnook. But what this means is that instead of printing my name out on a sticker, someone has to write it down by hand.
On my way in to work this morning, I saw this at my Metra stop. I immediately muttered to myself “That’s not right.”
Spotted this near the end of our block, where it seemed like some excess water was being relieved. I’ve spotted something like this a few times before, and the amount of water coming out always varies – sometimes it’s a steady stream, sometimes it kicks out in a strong burst.
Spotted these marks on the Metra tracks near 55/56/57, and wondered what they were for. My best guess is that they indicate some area for repair, but I’m really not certain.
Walking to work today, Liz and I had a moment where we realized our adulthood: finding candy in the street, and resisting the urge to pick it up and eat it.
