Came home to find that Bob started building our new wall, between the master bedroom and our guest room/office! With all the work we’ve done to clear out this space, it’s been exciting to see all the new things that are arriving – plywood on the floor, studs for new walls.

When clearing out the dining room, I was looking to move our fridge to our actual kitchen kitchen. After emptying it out, I was able to maneuver it over myself… but the measurements I took weren’t quite right.

On Sunday, Bob and Julie came back over and spent the afternoon with us. Bob helped us get the cabinets set up, and the new sink moved and plumbed in to the new countertop.

Bob ran into engine trouble with his truck on Friday, and ended up having to get it towed back to his house. With a lot of lumber already strapped to the top of it (slated for delivery here), he ended up renting a large cargo van, and reloaded tons of things to bring over to our place.

One of the things we missed, when we first added insulation to the walls, was actually stopping up some of the gaps in the walls. So while the insulation helped, the room could definitely have been sealed up a bit better.

I suited up after work, and kind of got into a steady groove. Got the wall done and debris bagged and cleared out to boot. Though it made for a late night, I felt quite productive. Conked out pretty soon afer dinner, though.

I’m still amazed at what happens to time, when we work on the house. Once we get going, the hours just seem to slip by. I’m not sure why that is, because during the whole process… it’s not something I’d describe as “enjoyable” or fun.

Part of the work involved prying loose some wall studs on the other side of our bathroom closet. These pieces were pretty nailed in, and required using the Sawzall to cut through the nails – which Liz did. She also spent about 20 minutes prying the pieces loose by hand, and was pretty well beat by the time I got home.

After work, Liz and I put in a little time on the house. Bob’s been over all week, and by the time we get home… there are a few tasks for us to attend to (some clean-up, some prep work before his next visit).

We brought up a sheet of plywood from the kitchen, and split up our tasks: Liz focused on measuring and cutting insulation while I went and removed the last bits of floor in the master bedroom (which the furnace had been sitting on).
