A Short Long Day: Custom Drywall Fixes
After a big house day yesterday, Liz and I were still planning to do some work today… but to end early, so that we could enjoy a bit of our Sunday, relaxing. Which… sorta happened.
After a big house day yesterday, Liz and I were still planning to do some work today… but to end early, so that we could enjoy a bit of our Sunday, relaxing. Which… sorta happened.
Today, Liz and I spent most of the day working on the house. We did a lot of prep work, winterizing some problematic windows… and did a good bit of demo to boot.
While I was planning on just doing some errands and a supply run, I shifted into this mode where I just figured I should keep on working and actually do the insulation install.
As part of our yardwork, we removed some broccoli that Liz had planted. It didn’t end up yielding anything, but boy did it get large.
Spent a large part of the day today, filling up another Bagster full of debris. Not sure why I decided to keep track of how many of these guys we’ve used, but… I guess this is officially #6.
Bob was over tonight, talking with us about plans for the upstairs bedrooms. He went up into the attic to investigate the roofline. It’s been a long while since anyone’s been up there.
As a frame of reference, we did a lot of demo over the weekend – getting most of the plaster and debris out. But we had a lot of lathe still to clear.
Some days, it’s nice to know that your one and only job is to break stuff.
Though we were both pretty tired by the end of the work day on Monday, Liz and I decided we needed to stick to our schedule. We had a really busy and full (and productive) work day on Sunday. But in our push to get things done before Winter arrives, we decided to suit up and put in a little more time, Monday evening.
Though we didn’t get started on the house until around 1PM on Sunday, Liz and I had an incredibly productive afternoon. We’ve been putting in a lot of hours towards the house, but today was really something – as far as all the tasks we got completed.
I had some errands to run during the day Saturday with Bob, but in the late evening… Liz and I resumed work in the basement. We got more pieces along the back basement wall put up.
These photos are from last night, when we kind of combined tasks. While I was out doing laundry, Liz was home prepping drywall. When I got back, I went down to the basement and pitched in – helping to install the pieces that Liz had measured and cut on her own.
Monday night house night! After work, Liz and I suited up to go work in the basement for a bit. Our goal was to get Visqueen up on a good many of the walls, focusing on the south side of the house – in the back and the front basement.
Earlier this week, I spent some nights moving out a lot of things from the basement up to the office on the second floor. With all our boxes cleared out, the office is going to be our next staging area. For now though, so that we can get the basement floor epoxied… we need to clear out as much as we possibly can. I got a lot of the bigger items moved up during the week, and today spent a good deal of time cleaning things up and throwing things out.
Last night, Bob came over to do the cement pour in our back basement. Our goal was to have a small housekeeping pad for the (future) washer/dryer. We wanted to get it done over the weekend, but time got away from us. Luckily for us, Bob was willing to tackle it on a school night.
