We had some time alone at the lake house with Grace. But tonight, she was working an evening shift (3PM – 11PM)… so Liz and I decided to take a stroll on the beach by ourselves (with Sandy in tow). We didn’t quite stay long enough for the sunset, but were out a good while in the early evening.
Late in the afternoon, a few of us decided to wander over to the beach for a walk… to catch the sunset.
Slow day today. We got up a bit early, and several of us headed out to Musekgon to visit the Muskegon Farmers Market.
All told, this was an incredible show that we watched for a solid 30 to 40 minutes. It felt incredibly special, incredibly unique. And I loved that we were all able to share in this moment, experiencing this silent awe.
I don’t know how many more times I’ll see something like this in my lifetime. I’m hoping it’s more than this one time. But I will tell you – I’m happy I got this one.
On the way up, we realized something was up with our air conditioning. About 5 miles from their place, the AC just started to get hot. And we started to see water coming in to the cab – especially by the passenger side.

Took a brief walk today, with Anne, Jackson, and Sandy. Along the way, we passed by a statue of Chief Wabaningo, a local historical figure – covered for winter.
Pretty slow day today. Kirt, Anne, Jackson and Grace arrived last night. Most of today was just lazing around and hanging out in front of the fireplace.
On our way out, Liz spotted a visitor in the distance. I couldn’t even see the doe, and had to have it pointed out to me.
While at the Lakehouse, Liz and I got a new thermostat delivered here. We decided to roll up our sleeves and do the install, prior to everyone else arriving.
I was standing in the living room, when Liz whispered Window! to me, and pointed outside. I was able to grab my camera in time to catch a solitary deer, slowly walking by the house.
With us working a lot the last few days, today ended up being a pretty slow and laid back kind of day. The sky was cloudy, the forecast called for rain… so we spent a lot of the day just hanging out inside. Chatting a little, reading a little. And more than one nap took place.
Anne flew in last night, and we had the chance to catch up a bit over dinner. This morning, we all suited up and headed back to the marina to put a few more hours in working on the boat.
One of the Christmas gifts we gave to Liz’s dad last year: a coupon for two “working days” on the boat. We drove up to Michigan this weekend, with the aim to spend some time hanging out… and also making good on our promise.
We were up early this morning, trying to head out before traffic gets bad. Snapped this photo of Kirt and Liz, taking a moment to lookout on the lake… one last time, before heading home.
