@ Work @ Home
Today was relatively slow. Woke up around 10AM, and tended to a few things via email and phone.
Last night, we were all at work on a microsite for Powerhouse, the big annual hip-hop concert for Power106 in LA. This afternoon, I made a call out to LA and talked to one of the sales guys (Brian), and we sussed out some particulars as to who the (secret) act was going to be. Our job is to update the microsite, and I coordinated with him regarding stuff like artist name placement, etc etc.
For all the drudgery and menial tasks my job entails, I often forget how cool it is that I get to work with (to some degree) musical artists. Granted, I’m not a hiphop fan, but the stuff I work on lets me get my hands on images of Ludacris or audio clips of Kanye West. In the midst of all the nitty gritty, day-to-day details of my job, there’s this really cool side to it that I forget. I’ve got a hand in the big promotion machine, however slight. While I may not be rubbing shoulders with celebrities, the work I do (in a somewhat limited way) influences how they appear to a lot of people. That’s sorta cool. :)
