Fast
Today was one of those days where I was working pretty much non-stop. I had a few moments where I thought "Gee. I’m kinda hungry. Maybe I should get some food." But I kept on working and, next thing I know, it’s super late.
I spent all of my time working on a radio site in California (we lost a webmaster this week, and I’m filling in). Part of what I had to do was get the newsletter ready to be sent out to everyone in their database.
After fucking around with this third-party’s interface, I finally figured out how to send out a test e-mail. The great thing is, the send time is limited: you can only send out e-mails every half hour. On top of that, once you’re actually within the hour, the next possible time to send is the following hour.
So, if it was 6:01 PM, the next time I could send out an e-mail would be 7:00 PM.
I wanted to make sure my html email looked alright before I sent it to everyone in the database, so I tried sending to myself as a test. After three hours passed (one test an hour) and no e-mails, I wondered if my ISP was somehow detecting the mail as SPAM and deleting it before I even received it.
Sometime around 10:00 PM, I switched my address to my hotmail account, and I got the e-mails no problem. Around 10:15 PM, I received all four test e-mails I sent to my regular address. ![]()
