Everything But Net
I’ve been without an Internet connection since Friday (it’s been four days), and it’ll likely be this way until April 7th. Blegh.
It’s odd, connecting only to email and the web through my phone. As I’m typing this, I don’t have any of my other normal applications open: no email, no browser, no Twitter app. My computer feels, how I do put this… heavier. Maybe even a little slower.
And before you ask, yes, I’ve tried to look around for an open WiFi connection. No linksys networks, sadly. Every single one of the WiFi connections that show up are protected. I can say that, compared to the neighbors at my old place… the ones here are much more tech savvy.
Needless to say, this will make posting to the blog pretty challenging. Mostly I’ve been just writing posts and prepping images at home, and then uploading everything during lunch at work. Cumbersome, but so far it’s been working.
Kicking myself again for waiting as long as I did to call the DSL folks. I’ve already called once to see if they can bump up the activation date (no luck), and will probably keep bugging them every other day.
For someone who’s used to being on the computer a great deal, it’s a very weird feeling to not be jumping on the computer while at home. A good thing, I guess. My lack of computer time at home may be due to the lack of Internet, but it may also be due to the pace around here lately. With all the painting in the evenings, we have enough time to get home, eat a little dinner, and then straight off to sleep.
I’m looking forward to this weekend, where we’ll be able to relax a bit more… and maybe watch a whole movie, as opposed to just parts of one.
