Volunteering

So I got a call back from Laura. We talked a lot about the Poetry Center, and I didn’t gather anything from our conversation that she was interested in anything beyond our shared, common interest. Ah well, silly for me to suppose there was anything there. But I’m happy I called.

This is not to say, of course, that I’m changing my mind about volunteering. Far from it. The primary thing that attracted me (and makes my knees go weak just thinking about it even now) is working with their archives.

Thirty years’ worth of writers and readings. How many audio recordings have there been? Video? Oh good god, I’m getting all giddy from the thought. My aim is to see if there’s anything I can contribute, as far as making these archives more accessible. My hunch is that there’s a ton of media just waiting for a good interface, a good means to share themselves with the rest of the world.
