The universe is trying to tell me something
Last Sunday, I met up with my friend Wendy, who I hadn’t seen in like 14 years. She had been on MySpace, found my Profile, and that’s how she contacted me.
Earlier this week? On Tuesday? My friend Blakely, who I also haven’t seen or talked to in about 14 years, contacts me via MySpace as well. Amazing coincidence, right?
And today? During lunch? While getting a salad at the Au Bon Pain inside the Merchandise Mart? This girl grabs my arm and says “Felix?”
Turns out it’s my friend Lisa W who, like Wendy, was in choir with me in High School. I haven’t seen Lisa in something like 14 years, and I found out she also works inside the Mart.
What’s going on this week? It’s like I’m some magnet for old friends from High School. Not that I’m complaining – it just seems like such a weird coincidence, to have all this happen within an interval of maybe a week.
I didn’t get to exchange numbers with Lisa, which is the one thing I do regret. It all happened so fast that I didn’t even think to ask. And though I sort of remember where she said she works (the Mart is a huge building), I do remember telling her where I worked. Hopefully we’ll run into one another again soon, as I really would like to grab a beer with her and catch up.
There’s some weird coincidental stuff happening to me right now. And with all these random reunions happening, I decided that I needed to buy a lottery ticket – which I did while taking a break this afternoon. I don’t even know what I got Mega Millions? Something? I had the woman do an automatic pick, so we’ll see what happens. I totally forgot to bring the thing home with me, so I’ll have to check it tomorrow at work.
Who knows? Tomorrow, I could find out I’m a millionaire. Given what’s happened recently, it seems like anything is possible.
I guess that’s a fairly positive outlook. And one I should have more often.
