Logan Square DIY: Take One, Leave One

After a full day of work (and a full day of studying for Liz), the two of headed out for a dinner out on Logan Square. We were initially going to Lula Cafe (note to self: they’re closed on Tuesdays for some reason), but ended up going to nearby Dunlay’s instead. En route, we happened across two handmade-looking receptacles.

On closer examination, they looked to be drop boxes of a sort. One for books, one for video. On even closer inspection, they were “exchange” boxes – encouraging people to take a book/video, and to leave one as well.

Well I’ll be darned. Videos aplenty.

And books aplenty, too.

We didn’t take any with us, but an interesting idea nonetheless. I liked how it stopped me in my tracks, and really caught me off guard. While I sort of miss running into interesting graffiti and stickers and signs on my way to work (living in Wicker Park), I’m glad that my new neighborhood has stuff like this strewn around.
