Graveyard Game: Includes Possibility of Death
The Graveyard is a “game” with a fairly basic set of rules. From the instructions:
You walk with her to the bench, in front of the chapel. You turn her around and let her sit down She looks backwards to the bench when she is ready to sit. She sits.
When you are done, you walk with her back to the gate. And you both leave the graveyard to quit the game.
There’s not a ton to really explore, and the environment is a bit limited (more or less a straight path to the bench). So this is less a game in the traditional sense, and more along the lines of half art, half game. A playable meditation, almost.
The environment is quite beautiful, and the music really provides a great moment when sitting. I downloaded the free trial version a few days ago, and just got around to trying out the game today.
There’s a full version that costs $5. It’s the exact same version as the trial, but the only addition is the possibility of death: each time you play, she might die.
This was created by the folks at Tale of Tales. Interestingly, they’re also the folks behind The Endless Forest – something I’d heard about and tried out a few years back… but never got really into. I may have to go back in for another look.
