Eye Twitching, Both Eyes

I think everyone has this at one time or another: the underside of the eyelid, twitching for a split second, doing a little spasm-dance. Well, my left eye has been doing this on and off for some time now. And not just for a second or two, but for several seconds in a row.

This week, I felt it in both my eyes. What the hell is this all about?

And it’s a lot less cool than you’d think. There’s no "special effect" feeling that comes from this, or any sort of added visual bonus. It does *not* feel like someone shaking you by the shoulders really fast; instead, it feels more like a small, annoying child perpetually poking at you.

I did a quick Google search earlier in the day, and it said something like stress or lack of sleep or excessive caffeine may be the cause. Friggin’ great. Take your pick. I also learned that the twitchiness may be a result of squinting too much – which I’ve been doing partly due to my poor eyesight, partly due to the fact that I spent hours and hours each day staring into a monitor.

For a moment, I wondered if I was drinking too much coffee during the day. Perhaps excessive caffeine was the cause of this problem. When I imagined cutting down my coffee intake… I started to get stressed out.
