Unexpected Oysters

Alex and I were going to hang out tonight, and watch a movie. Before he arrives, I get a call from Kent and find out he’s free for the evening. We talk about Nola’s, and next thing I know he’s over at my place and we’re both waiting for Alex.

When Alex arrives, we all head off for Nola’s (on Monday’s, it’s three oysters for a dollar there). We eat well, down a few beers, and have some good talks. I hear Kent’s brush with John Cougar Mellencamp; I hear about Alex meeting a girl who has his exact same first and last name… a good night. Christine showed up a bit later. She’s been pretty frazzled with her job of late, and I haven’t seen her as much. Hopefully, once things slow down, we’ll all be able to hang out a bit more.

Back at the apartment, Alex and I grab some more beers and watch Lumi?ãre. Oddly, this film was something that was recommended to me by Sandy, back when I taught for a week in Alabama. And I got Alex this as a birthday gift. Since he doesn’t have a VCR though, he’s never been able to watch it.

Agh! Holy crap… also just realized that the first time I went to Nola’s with Kent was the day before Alex’s birthday.

I’m happy and rather surprised, how things today have presented unexpected links to previous events. And to top things off, I’m delighted to have some of the documentation that this blog offers. How cool is it that I’ve got images and details about both Alex’s birthday and the Nola trip with Kent?
