Outlook "Power User" Training: I Want My Three Hours Back
We got a walkthrough on such things as how to BCC: and include attachments. Now, I’ll admit that I don’t use the Calendar feature all that much. Or Notes. But for fuck’s sake, three hours?
Yes, learning that I can forward someone’s contact information as a VCard is nifty. But c’mon. Did I have to sit through everything just to get that?
And from the looks of things, our company will also be introducing Instant Messaging to folks. Yikes. I’m all for IM during work (I do it from time to time, and hit up lots of other Flash folks I know for help/information). But there’s no way in hell I’m going to give out my current IM addresses to people at work.
Just this week, we had someone in our company set their e-mail account to auto-reply to ALL. So when there was a company-wide memo, this guy’s automated e-mail kicked back a reply… to everyone in the company. Then some genius in New York wrote back and said "Please take me off your mailing list, I’m new New York." This guy was under the impression that:
1) He was on someone’s mailing list
2) The auto-reply was actually a real person who had typed a real message
To top it off, he replied-all, and sent his message to everyone in the company.
His e-mail was then promptly responded to by the aforementioned automated reply.
To everyone in the company.
No way are these people getting my IM information.
