Today was a strange day at work. During the middle of the day, I was overcome with what I can only describe as an overwhelming amount of frustration and stress. The weird fucking thing about all of this is that I’m not really all that busy with things at my job. At least, I’m nowhere close to busy compared to…

Hung out with Justin after work. We met up at Bob San for dinner, and hung out for a good long while afterwards. The one unfortunate part of dinner was my late lunch – I simply wasn’t very hungry at all, and ordered about a third of what I typically order, when indulging in sushi. Still, it was good stuff….

This is right below the Damen Blue Line stop. I passed them by, then took out my camera and circled back. I’m not sure if they all had the same owner, but each dog was focused intently on someone inside the coffee shop. As far as body language goes, I think dogs have this whole thing down to a science….

I got a great email from Gretchen today, who send out a cool message to a bunch of us. In addition to her excitement about the nearing of Spring, she included a poem by Bob Hicok. Interestingly enough, Hicok is someone who we published a lot at The Journal (the name of the literary journal at Ohio State University), back…

I was over at Jude’s place, trying to help out his sickly laptop. Win98, and what felt like a Pentium II. He keeps getting booted off of AOL, and try as I might… I couldnt’ fix most of his issues. I was there for a good long while, but nothing I did seemed to have any effect. As a salve…

This is nuts. The longer I’m up, the more pissed off I seem to be getting. This is sort of funny. Well, it would be funny, if I weren’t so pissed.

Maybe I’m cranky because I still haven’t written anything yet. As much as I’m doing with this whole database idea, a small part of me wonders if this isn’t something I’ve intentionally done: created another project to prevent me from doing any serious/real writing.

For most of the evening, I’ve been flipping through a book that Justin loaned to me, ages ago: Sams Teach yourself MySQL in 24 hours. Pretty dull, and pretty frustrating, all told. I’m still in the theory stage, with no actual hands-on anything. I find that work better with examples: telling me how to build something is oftentimes lost on…

Earlier tonight, I talked with Matt for a good while on the phone. We kicked around one of his sonnets, and the talk led to publication. Specifically – all the organization that has to happen, the tracking, where to send, when, etc. A few years back, when I was sending work out… it wasn’t that much. A handful of poems…

I didn’t roll out of bed until 1:00 PM. Even now, I’m not sure I entirely feel awake. My suspicion is that, ever since the middle of last week, I’ve been operating below normal on sleep. I just never really got caught up. I haven’t really shaken this off yet, and it’s damn near 11:30 PM. I’m beginning to get…

Ben has been working on our group’s identity the past week or so. This evening, I got a glipmse of what our business cards will look like (roughly, since there’s still some tweaking to be done). And you should get a gander at some of the envelopes and collateral he’s designed. HOT Damn! I’m sure he’ll have this up on…
