audioplayer updated

I’ve uploaded three new songs to the audioplayer (on the far right). Figured it was about time.

When Katie was visiting on Thursday, she ended up sifting through the songs on my iPod as she was waiting around for us all to go to lunch. At the end of the day, when I picked up the iPod… she had left it on a song by Iron and Wine (a song I originally got off of Ben’s blog). I had heard it a few times, but it got stuck in my head, and this weekend I started looping it incessantly.

My friend Dan (who I’ve known since something like middle school) gave me a call tonight, from Japan. We made plans to hang out back in Indianapolis over the holidays, and had some interesting talks about music, and writing, and the artistic process.

It was really cool to talk with him, and to hear from him out of the blue. I take it an incredibly strong sign that we were able to talk instantly, as though we had last spoken yesterday (when in fact it’s been something like maybe 10 years.

Coincidentally, he asked me about Leonard Cohen. We talked a bit about his music, and we discovered a mutual admiration for Chelsea Hotel. Dan told me a bit about the history behind this song, and I decided I wanted to put it up on the audioplayer as well.

And in a fit of nostalgia, I ended up buying a few Indigo Girls albums as well tonight. I really like their lyrics, and am a sucker for their harmonies. I listened to them a good deal in college and got all wistful. I’m including them in the mix as well.
