Frenzic: Addictive Tetris-Like Pattern Game

Last week, Justin and I were talking about games at work. He mentioned a particular game that he downloaded (and ended up liking so much he purchased): Frenzic.

The gameplay is fairly straightforward, and it’s definitely addictive. Comparable to Tetris the game is all about patterns, and placing the pieces in the proper locations, depending on both orientation and color. There’s a great deal of satisfaction to the game, trying to create order out of chaos.

The game is designed by Iconfactory, and the look is just slick as hell. Free trial version lets you play for an hour, but then after that you have to purchase it. And unfortunately for the PC folks… it’s Mac only.

Between you and me, I blew through the first 45 minutes of that hour in one sitting. And after a bit of indecision, ended up plopping down the $15 to purchase the game.

In addition to the fun, this has got me thinking again about creating/building my own game. I’ve got an older idea that’s been backburnered for ages now, and this may be a good opportunity to dust it off, and revisit the concept.
