Barack Hussein Obama, the 44th President of the United States

This is more for me, than for you. While I wasn’t in DC attending, I wanted to remember the moment.

Democrat or Republican, Obama being sworn in as the 44th President was a pretty significant event. The very act of a black man being sworn in as President makes me incredibly happy, and reminds me of the America I knew as a kid – a land of possibility and opportunity, a place where hard work is rewarded.

Deep down, I’ve always known and believed this. But to see Obama take the stage and raise his hand… it made me proud to be an American, and reminded me again why I love this country.

It’s interesting that Obama’s inauguration gives me pause, and has me reflecting on and reconsidering the US. I feel that part of his speech also invited the rest of the world to do the same – an announcement of change, and at the same time an invitation to work together.

As Liz and I were sitting, watching the Inauguration on TV… the sun was shining outside, and there was a healthy amount of snow falling. For a brief while, on looking outside the window, it appeared as though there was confetti… falling all around.
