Cabinet Top + Veneer

Not a ton of photos from today’s woodworking class. We’re nearing the end (just today and next week’s session), and are working on the final steps of our cabinets.

Today, our instructor Nick gave us two pieces of plywood that we would join via screws to make the cabinet tops. We counter-sunk the screw holes, joined the pieces together with screws, and cleaned up the sides using a router.

From there, we kind of split into two camps: some of us worked on applying strips of veneer along the sides of our cabinet tops; some of us worked on sanding our doors and cabinets.

I hadn’t yet played around with applying wood veneer, so this was a first for me. I slowly got the hang of it, and see the benefits of trying to gussy up an otherwise pedestrian bit of plywood.

Liz and I have gotten spoiled on the various table saws they have available here. We’re already talking about ways we can bring supplies up here, and how we might get a bit of shop time to do our cutting.
