I Hang with Steph and Troubleshoot Microsoft Word
I had offered to help Steph fix her work computer (she works for my landlord, Ted) and went to drop by her office. My landlord’s place (Cityscape Realty) is literally right around the corner. Steph told me that they were going to be signing a lease with some folks around 7, and to stop by. When I arrive, I see them through the window: Ted and Steph are sitting at a table, discussing things with two future tenants. I decide to pull back and wait outside until they wrap up. Steph is dressed all professionally, and looks really cute. Very business like.
So – the clients leave, and I go in and jump onto the box. They’ve installed this program from Hewlett Packard, designed for realtors. Some sort of MS Publisher type app that allows them to create brochures and flyers based on various templates. After numerous errors, we determined that this app was causing Word to crash. We uninstall and it seems to be fine after that.
I show Steph a few links, including the Comedian trailer and a post that Mr. Grumpy made regarding punk kittens.
I should mention that, towards the end of our two hour troubleshooting adventure… I slipped next door to Universal Liquor and bought a six pack of Bass. Steph and I had a beer a piece, and surfed and chatted. Turns out, we talked about new properties that were going to be available to rent – and I expressed my interest in moving.
Currently, I’m paying $950 for a spacious two bedroom – but it’s way the fuck more space than I need. And on top of that, $950 for one person is a bit steep. I’ve eaten the cost mainly because I love the area, and am really happy living where I live. Steph mentioned two places that I might be interested in, both about a block away, for maybe $100/$150 cheaper. One of them is the ground floor of Ted’s (my landlord’s) place. Since I’ve helped out here and there with Ted and Steph’s computer problems, I’m hoping he may cut me some kind of deal – that, and I’ve been a tenant of his for close to two years.
So the idea of moving excited me. On top of it, were I to move… I’d actually be saving money each month. Another good reason.
