Away
by Felix Jung
Beside a grove, I see a doe take flight
along the ditch that runs along the
interstate. My car is fast, and as I
pass her, I can see the glance she gives
in my direction. I am afraid she’ll stray,
approach the road and risk the distance.
I think of you, so many years ago, and how
you loved me, fully, without thought of
consequence. I turn my head. I pull away.
