I saw this just down the street from me, on the corner of North and Wood. I’m mixed on my feelings about this. I like the reach of the message, as it’s one person trying to push their vision of the city out onto the world. But this particular message is tinted with an aura of sadness. At least, I’m reading sadness into it (whereas I could project independence and rebelliousness just as easily).
After walking away, I felt a little sadder. It seemed a very different effect compared to when I found the You Are Beatiful stickers scattered along this street.
Really though, what I was doing was this: I was thinking about myself. And about Chicago. And about who I am in relation to the city. Which, I guess, is the whole point.

I walk by this intersection every single day, and I can’t belive I’ve missed seeing this for… what, a year now? 2003? Jebus.
