Lobby Gallery
Our next stop was to be Lobby Gallery. I though it was fairly close, and within walking distance… so we ended up hoofing it again. We meandered our way to the general spot, but had trouble locating the actual building. We wandered around in the cold drizzle for what seemed like an age and, out of nowhere, I see Chelsea pull up.
She’s looking for a place to park and I tell her we’ll wait. Genius that I am, I overlook the fact that we’re tired from walking so much, it’s cold outside, and raining slightly. We stand on the street corner for a good 10 minute, and see her pull up again. This time, I ask if we can climb in while she parks. In short order, she finds a parking spot about 100 feet away from where we were originally standing, in effect just moving us farther away. ![]()
Eventually, we find the place (the numbers on the buildings weren’t very helpful). As we walk in, we’re greeted and handed glasses of wine. This was a very welcome little breather.
Lobby Gallery was having its official opening, ever, tonight. My friend Matt is serving as the Artistic Director there, which is quite cool. The space is small, but very intimate. It feels very warm, walking around inside. There’s also this big, wood column that I really dig, right in the middle of the entire space.
Tonight, they’re showcasing the work of an Ohio artist named Robert Metzger. After talking with Matt some, I discover that they’re already booked for the remainder of the year.
We chatted a bit, but Matt ended up having to return to his role/duties as host. Before we left, I made it a point to apologize for my distance these past few months, and promised that we’d hang out soon. I’m looking forward to seeing Tracy and Malikai soon.

Chelsea and Matt (who, incidentally, also has a moleskine notebook in his breast pocket).
Afterwards, Chelsea was kind enough to give us a lift back to my neck of the woods. She was going to have an early morning tomorrow, and was heading home. For us, we wanted to stop off and get some food before going to any more shows… so we went to Santullo’s for a few NY-style slices.
