The Saddest Music in the world

I’ve been down for part of the day, and it stuck with me after work. Justin had talked about going to see a Guy Maddin film, but I was so unmotivated that I wasn’t sure if I was even in the mood for that.

We wandered over to Smoke Daddy, on Division, to meet up with Dave. I threw down a few drinks there and seemed able to muster up some interest for a movie.

Grabbed a pic of this on a fence nearby.

The movie itself was alright. I enjoyed watching it, but not as much as Justin seemed to like it. Often in his films, it seems that certain absurdities appear for no real reason – at least, none that I can detect. Perhaps this is part of his style. I get the sense that there are other motives and reasons behind some of his choices, but those reasonings escape me… and leave me feeling a little stupid for not having gotten whatever it was I was supposed to get.

There were several great moments, and I laughed a good deal. Perhaps I’m being too negative.
