Tonight was our annual work dinner, made extra special since we recently purchased the Loop. So there were staff folks from both stations in attendence. Fun stuff, although all I really did was stand back, work the open bar, and sip myself into a scotch stupor.
I talked with a good number of folks tonight, but didn’t meet that many WLUP people. I’m bad about mingling, and though I try to mix and chat with strangers at events like this… I always feel like I’m doing a poor job of it.
The big plus from tonight? Two words: Christmas Raffle. Every year, the stations hold raffles for a variety of prizes (last year, Justin ended up winning a camera). So there’s typically a lot of good stuff on the table.
This year, there was a mountain bike, an XBox, and a PS2, to name but a few of the prizes. I secretly had my heart set on the PS2 but, in a moment of self-jinxing… when they announced a fancy radio-controlled car, I muttered to Chris: “I don’t want that, but I wouldn’t say no.”
Lo and behold, they call my name.
Still, this will be awesome. It’s no PS2, but I’m certain we’re going to build some kick-ass ramps back in our department, and put this thing to the test. I guarantee you some pictures soon (if not video).
Happy Holidays, everyone! ![]()
