Ok, dammit. I got distracted from the writing by the blog. Here it is some two hours later, and I’m still pecking away at the keyboard, writing in this thing. On the plus side, I’ve been sifting through poems. I’m in a mode where I’m having a ton of fun retyping poems to share.

The first is a short poem that was cited in Kooser’s book. In the section where this poem appears, he’s talking about poems changing how one views the world, and about how really good poems never allow us to see things the same way after reading them.

The second is by another of my favorites – Billy Collins, chosen mostly because the outrageousness of the title seems to play nicely against the brevity of the Hutchinson poem.
