Sort of a work day
So there’s this big promotion that’s slated to be done by the end of the day, Monday. I tried to get as much done as I could before I left, but Justin gave me his laptop so I could try to work some this weekend. On the train ride over, I did a bit of work (but it’s bumpier than you think). Plus – I can’t work on laptops at all. My hand are too used to their configurations on a standard keyboard. On a laptop, I swear I’m working at about 15% of the speed I normally work.
Today off and on, I was sitting in the living room, working away with Flash. I did occasionally help out with some party prep stuff (Abbey spent a lot of time making food and goodies for the party).

Everyone, meet Gracie. Who’s awesome (we bonded a lot on Sunday, and she was taking naps near my feet all day).

During the day, I got to see more of the backyard area. Abbey spends a lot of time outside, and seeing all this it’s no wonder. Being in Chicago for so long, I’ve forgotten how amazing something like a yard can be.

Patio area.

Sadly, it’s been a long time since I’ve been barefoot in the grass. Took this picture as a reminder to myself to not let too much time pass by until the next time.

And she has a peach tree in the backyard. A peach tree!

I spotted this flower earlier, while I was standing in the kitchen (is it a hyacinth?), and was meaning to snap this photo all morning. Gracie’s off in the background a bit.

Have I mentioned that Abbey is a great cook? She had a ton of stuff going in the kitchen, along with some herbs both out in the garden and growing in some pots on the front steps.

Along with chips and such, Abbey also threw together a ton of couscous with roasted veggies, a great Jerusalem salad, some killer cream cheese dip, and these awesome cucumber slices with a roasted red pepper/goat cheese filling. Great, great stuff!
