Aaron Huey: Amazing Photos, Amazing Photojournalist

Aaron Huey
is a photojournalist for National Geographic, and takes some pretty stunning photographs. The image above is part of a series called “Afghanistan Drug War” and is in the section entitled “Features 1.”

A portion of the images document his time with the Afghan Eradication Forces, accompanying a group on their first ever attempt at drug eradication. During the ambush in a hostile Taliban controlled provice called Oruzgan… the group’s truck was blown up by a missile.

There is a lot of great stuff on his site, to say nothing of the Huey’s bio. Apparently, he walked across the US with his dog, Cosmo, in 2002. After that walk, he stopped shooting photos for 2 1/2 years to build an artist in residence program.

Some fascinating work by a fascinating individual. Check out Aaron Huey, and realize how little of the world you’ve seen. [via BB]
