Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors: Another Man’s Shoes

I started listening a bit more to Drew Holcomb recently, after hearing him again with Johnnyswim.

I’m usually drawn to lyrics, but this song for me is more about the notes. I find it surprisingly… calming. Maybe that’s not the best word, but it’s the first word that comes to mind.

Play your rock n’ roll
on the stereo,
push the cruise control,
disappear into the groove

Take the photograph,
try to make it last,
then the awkward laugh,
doesn’t make it true

Lyrically, I like the opening lines best. But I think I’ve been playing this song a lot because it just brings about a slowness and ease. Surprisingly, I’m finding that it smooths things out in my head a little.
