Dinner with the Ford Kids

While Liz and I have been in Georgia, we’ve done a lot of the cooking – making meals, some involved, some easy.

We’ve stepped into the suburban tempo of living in a house full of kids, who are in both high school and middle school (and juggling part-time jobs) – with all the activity and chaos that entails.

Tonight, there wasn’t anything special or particularly unique. It just so happened that all of the kids were home around dinnertime, and we all got plates and hunkered down in the living room.

I think we were watching an episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, or possibly starting a movie. All I really recall was the fact that everyone was home.

I suspect this is how parents feel, every so often. When they catch a glimpse of something like this out of the corner of their eyes. Nothing singular or exemplary, just a house full with kids. And by extension, a house full with love.
