Bad Books: Pyotr
I’ve been picking up songs that I liked a long time ago, and re-listening to them (thanks to Spotify). Got hooked on something from a while back, and have had it on a loop lately: Pyotr, by Bad Books.
Bare breasted, you make love in the turret
I feel each single thrust that you take
And in silence I watch on from the bastion
Entranced, I make myself look away
I feel each single thrust that you take
And in silence I watch on from the bastion
Entranced, I make myself look away
Interestingly, while I somewhat know the lyrics… I apparently really didn’t listen very closely. I was more entranced with the soft vocals, and the melody. The words never quite sunk in to me, until I wrote up this post.
And in hindsight, the lyrics are way more powerful than the music. I can’t believe this entire time I missed so much, such an integral part of the song, somehow.
If you’re curious to the lyrics and their meaning, take a listen to this live version of the song, with an introduction that explains its meaning.
