Hazel, Struggling

Hazel has had a rough time of late. She’s been having difficulty with her balance, and has been falling over on her side more and more.

When we first saw this, we took her in for a round of tests. At the time, it was unclear whether it was an inner ear infection, or potentially something else.

One thing it is not is EC, despite the balance symptoms being an indicator. The process involved three different tests/panels, and we feel confident it’s not EC.

She’s on medication at the moment. We took her in for a CT scan, and that ruled out any kind of head trauma or inner ear infection.

Right now, when she moves around – she oftentimes falls over. It seems to be partly a balance thing, or possibly her muscles are giving out and not able to support her.

Sadly, this may explain why she loves the Hop ‘n Flop as much as she does, as this likely provides a lot of additional support and stability.

At the moment we’ve exhausted things… and we don’t have any good next steps. We’re taking her for a second opinion, in the hopes that some other ideas/options may be available.
