On the right: what Elhan referred to as his “Infinity Bottle.” It’s pretty much a continuously changing bottle, made up of the leftovers from prior SMWSA tasting events.
On arriving, we were greeted with a complimentary “welcome” dram. Which was a new thing. We’re here to taste the new bottles being released in March, but this one was just to start the night off I guess.
We both recognized one another, but struggled to remember each other’s name. And Dave said something that I thought was pretty stellar: “Memory is state dependent.” He said once we got drunk, we’d remember each other’s names.
Tonight, Liz and I ventured out again to a SMWSA event at the Franklin Room. There were a lot of bottles available (due to it being the release right before the holidays)… which meant there were a lot of things to sample.
After our trip to Scotland, and our discovery of the Scotch Malt Whisky Society in Edinburgh, Liz and I have become enamored with the Society’s cask strength bottles.
This is going to actually be a fairly busy week for us (socially, as well as whisky-wise). Think of this as a little bit of a pre-game night, before some big events.
It was an inevitability: Liz and I are now officially members of the Scotch Malt Whisky Society (more specifically, the USA chapter).
