Dogs Love Me

Afterwards, I made my way to Justin’s to watch a movie with him and Alex. I stopped off home first and, while I was there, I decided to drive my car over. After a few Indy 500 laps around his street, I finally found a parking spot about a block away.

Now get this. In the short block. Not even a full block, mind you… in this time, I encounter two dogs who found me pretty much irresistible. I passed a girl who was going into her apartment and, in stepping around her dog, the thing ducked between my legs and did (I swear to you) two full laps around my leg. Next thing I know, I’m stuck there, immobilized. After some apologies from the owner (in retrospect, I should have made more of an attempt to strike up a conversation), she was able to get the dog (Jonas I think his name was) untangled from me.

Fast-forward thirty feet down the road. A small dog is on its own and, as I walk by, I do this little nod thing as if to say hi. I turn around and the guy is wagging his tail like it’s his job, and sniffing away at my leg. I stop and he stops. His nose is pressed right into my jeans. The owner appears down the street and calls out to the dog, unsuccessfully. I keep hearing its name (Mandala or something like that), but the thing just stands there, sniffing my leg like it’s made of Alpo. Eventually, the owner has to walk over and physically pull the dog away (turns out it was just old and blind, and not able to tell people apart that well).

I’m home now – and my cat has been giving me this suspicious look ever since I walked in the door.
