Spontaneous Coding

I woke up early this morning, amazingly. Even with Daylight Savings and losing an hour, I managed to haul my ass out of bed and ran a few errands early in the AM. I got back a little before noon, and had designs on cleaning up the apartment a bit.

I got a coffee from Gallery and, in a slight bit of procrastination, settled down on the computer. I opened up a Flash file I’ve been working on, and tinkered with a line or two. And then another line or two. Pretty soon, I was going at a pretty good pace, and decided to scrap my plans for cleaning altogether. Next thing I know, I look up and a few hours have passed. :)

I think I’ve got a working version of this Flash-based IM deal. Basically, it’s one .swf file that reads in XML. So instead of me pasting in IM conversations into a table, it’ll recreate the conversation (somewhat) in Flash. I’ve got delay settings built in, but I haven’t really played much with that yet. So far, I’ve only got one conversation set up in this new way (from a talk Rypunked and I had, almost a year ago).

I’m not entirely sold yet on the size (it feels a little too big). But what the hey, work in progress and all that. The thing I’m excited about is that it’s one file, and is repurposeable.
