Cropchecker: Andyman’s Treehouse

Andyman’s Treehouse
. This venue is tucked away between some industrial-looking buildings in Grandview. It’s remarkably close to the first apartment complex I lived in, and time has done nothing to help me remember where this place is. As far as I can recall, I was only ever been here once (most of our drinking took place at Larry’s Bar, Grill and Seminar).

Seriously – Andyman’s is tricky to find. On walking in, you get this sense that you’re already one up on the evening, having been victorious in locating the front door.

Inside the music room. All the bands play in front of this wall and, over time, it’s been decorated with stickers aplenty. I really should have brought along some You Are Beautiful stickers.

(L to R), Josh on lead and Mike singing.

Mike (guitar), Matt (drums) and Rich (bass).

Mike, doing a slow number with his friend Deb on cello.

Jeannine (former singer from Jack Diesel and Nasty Aunt Francis), along with her friend Erin.

I’d like it on the record that Jeannine chided me for getting the wrong attribution, but then failed to recognize that I had edited my page after she wrote me about it. Hi Jeannine. :)

And here’s the reason it’s called Andyman’s Treehouse: in the middle of the room, there’s this giant treetrunk, shooting from the ground through to the ceiling. Kinda cool. But it seems as though it makes it a bit difficult to see the stage from in back, as this thing is right smack in the middle of the room.

Post-show, shortly after the band did a shot of whiskey together and toasted the crowd.

Breaking down the set, and closing down the bar. Mike and Matt, walking out of Andyman’s. A bunch of us stuck around to help pack up. At this time, it’s close to maybe 2:30 AM and a light but steady snow has started to fall. After being inside and surrounded by smoke, it was sort of nice to be out in the open, underneath a slow shower of snowflakes.
