Annapurna: Memories in Sound – Superb Audio Documentary
While driving back from a dentist appointment in Frankfort (I was visiting Dr. Heath, and getting the first part of my crown set up). I’ve been in and out of the dentist chair so much lately, the Novocaine shots aren’t quite freaking me out as much as they used to.
One could say I’m becoming a little numb to the Novocaine.
*ahem*
Actually, though there’s a lot of dentistry talk here… I’m writing more about my experience on the way home. Driving the 45+ minutes back to Chicago, I was listening NPR, and they were airing a 2002 Third Coast Festival documentary entitled Annapurna: Memories in Sound (scroll down).
It’s a series of field recordings, taken while on a three week trek through the Himalayas. To say that it will transport you is an absolute understatement.
I was pretty moved and mesmerized the whole drive home. If you’ve got headphones and/or if you’ve got the luxury to drop what you’re doing for a little while… check out this audio documentary.
