Fallout 3

I spent a lot of today just goofing off, playing Fallout 3. I remember a similar game from when I was a kid (entitled Wasteland), and really… who doesn’t love a post-apocalypse-fend-for-yourself-shoot-em-up game?

I tried playing Morrowind when it came out (also by Bethesda), but couldn’t get into it. There was a lot of walking around, and it ended up feeling more like work than play.

Playing Fallout 3, I see a lot of similarities between the two. But I’m finding the discovery process with Fallout 3 to be a lot more enjoyable… and a lot more fun.

There’s a great deal of tongue-in-cheek as well, as the game mixes some horrible and nasty stuff with kitschy, Cold War era design. You can see a lot of this on prepareforthefuture.com/.

  2. I got this for Christmas and only popped it in finally on Friday night. Amazingly great game. I was really impressed with how they set up the game orientation and character creation.

  3. Dustin – It is really quite fun. I’m a sucker for these level-based games, as I get ridiculously excited (and motivated) to get that *ding*.Although, sometimes it’s not as fun as I think it is.Rachelle – Luckily, I’ve been on vacation this whole week, and I’ve been binging during the day when Liz isn’t around. I should be working on my blog redesign, but I find myself “taking a break” more often than I should. At times, given how much I’m playing the PS3… it feels like I’m a college student all over again. It’s a little disturbing. And by disturbing, I mean awesome.
