Drinks at Cleo’s

Met up with some folks tonight at Cleo’s for a few drinks. For me it’s been ages since I’ve been out at a bar (and even longer since I’ve been to Cleo’s). It was especially nice to be able to hang out with coworkers and friends, particularly outside the context of work.

I got to talk to Pete for a good while, which was great because I don’t see him as often. We geeked out at length about arcade emulators and ROMs. And nearly everyone, on walking in, commiserated with TJ regarding his horrible flooding and towing experience, which resulted in a nearly 4 hour wait at the Impound Lot. Like many of us, he got tagged by the Chicago Winter Parking Ban.

It was a fun night of just hanging out and chatting. The place got super noisy for a while, as there were a ton of people doing a pub crawl. Although none of us could really figure out where else folks could crawl to from Cleo’s. After they left, the place got way more tolerable.

Tangent: The last time I was here at Cleo’s, I was here specifically to meet my dopplegäanger. And he turned out to be a great guy, actually.

Tangent 2: Originally, Ben had stumbled across Vlada’s photos of Ko, and that’s how the whole to meet my dopplegäanger meetup came to be.

As I’m writing this… I just now was looking over Vlada’s photos and came across this picture she took, which has Erin (Nick’s girlfriend) in it! And comments from Ben too!

The Internet is feeling ridiculously small right now.
