Rock Sugar: Heavy Metal Band Shipwrecked for 20 Years, Recently Rescued and Ready to Rock
This is absolutely hysterical. I’ve been laughing non-stop, ever since I found out about Rock Sugar, a metal band that’s been shipwrecked on an island since 1989.
During that time, all they had to listen to was the 80’s pop CD collection of a 13 year old girl. They’ve been rescued, they’re back… and they’re ready to rock.
The full story about the band’s aquatic disaster is an absolute riot to read. Here’s an excerpt:
…
Fast forward twenty years when a tuna boat with a screwed up compass discovered a group of long haired castaways on a deserted island far out in the middle of the Pacific. Finally rescued and now violently thrown back into the real life of present day Los Angeles, and with absolutely no clue whatsoever of anything that’s happened, developed or changed in the world since 1989, Rock Sugar is back and ready to electrify audiences with their brand new, razor sharp, psychotically original sound.
Here’s an interesting bit of trivia: the lead singer, Jess Harnell, is a fairly accomplished voice actor. He’s the announcer to America’s Funniets Home Videos. He also was the voice talent who gave life to Wakko Warner from the Animaniacs.
The awesome kicks in right around 1:34.
Move over, Beatallica – there’s a new gig in town. Rock Sugar: Because Pop Rocks.
