Happy 99th Birthday, Grandma Phoebe!

Over the weekend, Liz and I trekked back to Indianapolis to celebrate my grandma Phoebe’s 99th birthday. All of our cousins made the journey back to Indy, and we met up in the afternoon at my Uncle Benny and Aunt Vickie’s house.

Jenny, Ellen and Liz all apparently got the memo to wear purple.

As usual, we had a multitude of photographs inside – with various families posing with grandma. Here, Jasmine and Jahnu pose with grandma and their gift.

The whole Jung family – cousins, uncles, aunts and grandma.

We had dinner at the Hong Kong Inn, on the East side of Indianapolis. This was the restaurant where my dad used to work, when he was much younger… before he and my mom set off and started their own restaurant, on the North side. On the left, sitting next to my sister, is my Aunt Carolyn (who worked here back in 1969, and where she also met my uncle Jackie).

Looking back at my grandma.

Looking down the table where a lot of the cousins were sitting.

I like this photo because she kept pointing to the cake, and wanting to make sure I got it in the shot.

My Auntie Vickie helping to light the candles…

Jahnu really likes cake. Jasmine and Andrew seem to be preoccupied with an iPhone.

I’m not exactly sure why we did this (for fun? for another photo op?), but the candles were re-lit and the kids got to blow them out a second time. I love how Jahnu just keeps on quietly sneaking icing.

We also got a cake for Ellen and David, who will be celebrating their one year anniversary soon. The kids were told to make a funny face, and I love how everyone is doing the serious frown… except Jahnu. Who just looks really excited.
