12:31 – Executed Criminal’s Body, Re-Imagined In Photos

12:31 is a very interesting, very dark, and slightly disturbing project. Here’s the brief rundown:
In 1993, a convicted murderer was executed. His body was given to science, segmented, and photographed for medical research. In 2011, we used photography to put it back together.
The creators of the project were able to “re-create” the body by taking long-exposure photos during the night, using this animation of the segments:
This strikes me as rather macabre, but I’m a bit mesmerized by the few project images. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that I recently got to see portions of my body, in this kind of segmented detail.
