Avant-Garde: Flash Game Where You Paint and Get Drunk with Manet

Avant-Garde
is a beautifully created Flash game that lets you play as an aspiring artist in 19th century Paris. I have to confess – my art history background is horrible, so a lot of what was going on is lost on me.

But for some reason, the gaming genes in me kicked in. Despite not really knowing what I should be doing, my goal was to treat this like any other game… and I started to grind away, out of habit.

There are some really funny comments on MeFi that are worth checking out. I got fairly far in the game, and even earned a few gold medals at the salon… but not sure what more I do beyond making a lot of money cranking out Realist paintings.

The game is currently in Alpha, but looks pretty darn incredible.
