A Surprise Detour

After work, Liz ended up picking me up at the train station. She had stayed home so she could be at the hospital with her mom and Bob in the morning, and while he was being discharged. She ended up working from home the remainder of the day.

Earlier, we had talked about possibly visiting some of the new popup shops that had opened along 53rd street. But instead, she opted for us to hit Woodlawn Tap, on our way home.

While it’s great to have places like A10 and The Promontory right around the corner from us, it’s also nice to have a regular bar we can pop in to. It’s more of a watering hole for college students and locals, and I guess… well, we’re officially locals now.

The interior is actually quite spacious, though the few times I’ve been here I’ve only ever sat in the front room. There are two adjoining rooms that seem dark/empty, but perhaps I haven’t been inside during the busy hours.

It was a nice, relaxing detour after work to come here. Liz made sure to send Bob a photo of our drinks, and to show him that we were toasting him in absentia. A fitting thing too, as the first time I was in here was with Bob (this was a bar he used to come to, back when he worked on construction jobs on the South side many years ago).
